DESIGN APPLICATION GUIDE

The range of instantaneous and time-delayed relays has been designed for applications where a high level of integrity, performance and reliability is required. The applications include auxiliary alarm, logic, interposing and high speed tripping devices.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION

RELAY

The GPR range and special function relays are of the plug-in attracted armature type, designed to be interchangeable with a screw type terminal base, solderable socket or printed circuit-board socket.

All the relays comply with IEC 255 and have been independently tested for performance, rating and electromagnetic compatibility.

The complete range consists of AC/DC voltage and current operated instantaneous relays, high speed relays, latching relays (hand and electrical reset) with optional cut-throat contacts, dual coil relays and pulse relays.

The principle features of the relay is its compact size, flexibility and unique socket adaptors. This ensures that a wide range of applications can be accommodated.

Low Beryllium copper spring moving contacts and good wipe action give over 150 million operations switching TTL level signals. The standard contact material is solid silver; alternatively gold faced silver and silver cadmium oxide to suit the switching application.
Up to 4 change-over or 6 make/break contacts can be fitted as standard. Please refer to table on page 10 for contact configuration.

Radio-metal magnetic core material ensures drop-off characteristics which comply with BS 5992 and when required, the drop off can be controlled by residual studs to 25% of the activation voltage levels.

SOCKETS

The socket range consists of 3 types, each capable of accepting the complete range of relays. The GPR 112 screw type base is designed for front connecting, panel or DIN rail mounting. The screw type terminals will accept wire sizes of 0.5 to 2.5mm2. The GPR 117 solderable socket is designed for rear connecting, panel or U channel mounting. The GPR 115 PCB socket is designed for mounting directly onto a printed circuit board.

DIN RAIL AND
PANEL MOUNTED ASSEMBLIES

The complete range of relays can be assembled onto a DIN rail (DIN 46277-1) or panel to customer specification, complete with interconnecting wiring and outgoing terminals. The complete assembly is then ready for panel mounting by the customer.

RELAY INTERFACES

Relay interface modules are available in single, four, eight or sixteen channel configuration. The relays may be slected from the complete range and are PCB mounted and includes all internal bus-wiring, LEDs, diodes, terminals and ribbon connectors to customer specification.

Relay interfaces can be mounted on DIN rail to DIN 46277-1 or DIN 46277-3.

OPTIONS

A range of options and accessories is available to enhance the standard features of the relays. The options are coded and can be ordered by simply suffixing the code to the relay type number. The codes are shown in ().
